New customers are the fresh blood of any business. It drives you to work harder and smarter to reach a new market and promote your products and services. If you are a new brand and even old companies need to upgrade their marketing and advertising strategies in order to bring in new customers.

Here are some strategies you can implement to grow your reach and get those fresh customers!

1. Ask and get referrals

Referrals are one of the neglected ways to get new customers but you may be surprised how it works best.

The thing about referrals is that they will not come naturally from your previous customers of if there are any, it is very rare. You can’t just sit around and wait for your previous or current customers to actively start telling people about the great product or service you have provided them. If you are waiting, then you must have fallen asleep for a very long time. Customers are not employees who will naturally promote your products, but you could ask them.

Satisfied customers are key to great referrals. They are great proof of your good product and services and if you have a great referral request then you can be sure that the word is out for your new product.

Put in your strategy a referral generating activity after the sales have been made. You can send a follow-up through social media, email, and other means after they have received their order from you.

Ask for photos, reviews on your pages, or stories sharing on social media platforms to further spread the word.

2. Network

Networking or simply word-of-mouth is an old-school way of getting people to hear about your products and services. While it is old, it is a classic. Approaching people with an attitude that is willing to help for their benefit will turn ears towards you, compared to just upselling them.

Service and your customers’ benefit is a good thing to talk about when building relationships that can be converted to sales later on.

3. Offer exclusive or limited discounts and incentives

Discounts and promos work great for any type of customer but partner it with exclusivity then you are talking.

Introductory offers are commonly seen popping out of websites, or through ads on social media and they are very lucrative. That $200 subscription can be offered as low as $15 when you are a new subscriber. It is such a low price that people would be lured into subscribing for the first time and trying out your products or services. It can also apply to different industries as beauty products or services where customers can get promos exclusive for first-timers.

Now when that time is up, you can seal the deal even further by offering them to stay with your service or keep buying your products with another discount. Maybe not as low as the first one but still a good deal.

4. Contacting old customers

Old customers are still within your reach when you do a proper follow-up or offer a promo so they could purchase from your again. Reach out to them with their contact details on your records and try to give them a special offer. Since they have tried out your products and services before, you are sure that you are in their interest. And if it goes well then they will be back in your pool again. If not then you have valuable information right there that you could gather and ask why they are not enticed by your business any longer.

5. Improve your website or any platform

These days businesses have to have a good social media presence and that means presenting your business on different internet platforms.

If you have a website then you could do a rebranding or just updating your design and even the products you are offering to give it a fresh new look. Make sure everything is not outdated because it could deter potential customers from going back.

If you do not know much about these things then hire a designer and writer to help build this online platform that you could use to attract more customers.

6. Partner with other businesses

Not all businesses are competitors, some are even strategically complementary. Reach out to businesses that go well together and strike a deal to create discounts or bundles that you could both offer your customers. Two heads are better than one, now you have 2 marketing and advertising arm that would help you widen your scope of reach. Some examples are coffee drinks partnering with bakeries or salons partnering with cosmetic brands.

7. Promote your expertise

Your business is definitely your field of expertise, so use that knowledge to participate in events that are under your league. Join seminars, talks, and online promotions wherein you can pitch in your expertise about the topic. For example, if there is a celebration for World Hypertension Day, and you are selling a Hypertension checking device then you could use your knowledge about the product and the topic to teach people how your product could be of help and the importance of being equipped about it.

8. Use online reviews to your advantage

Reviews online especially on social media pages have a great impact on your business. Ask your previous customers to leave a review and even include photos because that is something your potential customers will look for once they browse through your listing. One example is Airbnb wherein people who are browsing through properties are looking for a location with good reviews.

9. Bring a friend

Services are the ones who will benefit most from these types of offers. Certainly, nobody wants to experience exciting activities or services on their own. Having a deal that appeals to people who would want to bring their spouses, mothers, friends with buy one take one or bring friend promos.

Relationships are an important part of our purchasing decisions so it would be of help to know that they can bring people they care about on your promos.
